Bryan    L.    Baggaley    is    a    licensed    Professional    Engineer    and    licensed    General    Contractor    who    provides    investigation    and    expert    witness    services    in construction   defect   claims   and   insurance   disputes.   Mr.   Baggaley   has   a   B.S.   and   M.S.   in   Civil   Engineering   from   the   University   of   Utah   with   emphasis   in construction   management   and   structural   engineering.   He   is   licensed   Professional   Engineer   in   Utah,   Idaho,   Wyoming,   Montana,   Colorado   and   Florida   and   a Certified Structural Engineer in Utah. He is a licensed General Contractor in Utah. 
Bryan   L.   Baggaley   was   taught   the   construction   trades   at   a   young   age   by   his   grandfather,   James   W.   Linton   who   was   a   home   builder   in   the   State   of   Utah. Upon   entering   high   school   he   was   already   an   accomplished   furniture   and   cabinet   maker.   At   Brighton   High   School,   he   received   multiple   awards   for   furniture making,   won   cabinetmaking   contests   and   received   construction   scholarship   offers   in   engineering   and   construction   management   from   multiple   universities. As   a   senior   in   high   school   He   took   2nd   place   in   a   national   cabinetmaking   competition   sponsored   by   the   Vocational   Industrial   Clubs   of   America   in   Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mr. Baggaley represented Brighton High School as a Utah Sterling Scholar finalist in the field of industrial arts. 
After   high   school   Mr.   Baggaley   attended   the   University   of   Utah   on   full   scholarship   where   he   obtained   a   bachelors   degree   (1995)   and   masters   degree (1999)   in   Civil   Engineering   with   emphasis   in   construction   management   and   structural   engineering.   As   a   masters   student,   he   received   a   grant   to   study   the reliability   of   structural   steel   connections   that   were   damaged   in   the   1994   Northridge   earthquake.   While   attending   the   University   of   Utah,   Mr.   Baggaley obtained   his   Utah   General   Contractors   License   and   started   his   own   construction   company   performing   interior   remodels   and   small   additions.   Mr.   Baggaley has maintained and used his Utah contractors license consistently to the present time. 
From 1997 to 2006, Mr. Baggaley was employed by Reaveley Engineers and Associates where he was responsible for structural design and construction services on multiple large commercial building projects. While working at Reavely Engineers, Mr. Baggaley obtained his Utah Professional Engineers license and his Utah Structrual Engineers license. Mr. Baggaley’s representative projects at Reaveley Engineers included the LDS Nauvoo Temple, Utah State University Performance Halls, and the Salt Lake City Veterans Administration Office Building as well as major additions to the Salt Lake International Airport. In particular, Mr. Baggaley enjoyed the challenge of investigating and retrofitting the seismic capacity of older structures to increase earthquake safety. Mr. Baggaley’s seismic evaluation and retrofit projects included the 1958 Salt Lake International Airport Terminal 1, the Brigham Young University (BYU) Brewster Building, BYU McKay Building, BYU Helaman Halls buildings, and the Utah State University Edith Bowen School of Elementary Education.  In 1998, Mr. Baggaley started his own real estate investment and property management company, Baggaley Enterprises LLC. Mr. Baggaley established this company as a side venture to his engineering employment. Through this company Mr. Baggaley invested in multiple residential and commercial real estate properties. As an owner of this company, Mr. Baggaley used his construction and engineering experience to construct, improve and subdivide investment properties to increase rental income and property values.  In 2006 Mr. Baggaley accepted a position with CH2MHill as the lead structural engineer to oversee the completion and build out of the Intel/Micron microchip manufacturing plant in Lehi Utah. As lead engineer he oversaw the construction of 7 buildings or additions to the manufacturing plant. Mr. Baggaley also oversaw the structural engineering and installation of over 2 billion dollars of microchip manufacturing equipment. Mr. Baggaley worked for CH2MHill until the completion and commissioning of the microchip plant in 2008. In 2008, Mr. Baggaley was employed by Stanley Consultants where he specialized in engineering and construction services for government and institutional facilities. Representative assignments included working as the structural lead and architectural advisor on the Brigham Young University cooling tower plant, project engineer on the Salt Lake International Airport new terminal building, project engineer on the seismic evaluations of 29 buildings on the US Navy Camp Lemonnier Base in Djibouti Africa, and was the lead investigator / design repair engineer for failures at the Rio Tinto Smelter facilities at the Kennecott Copper mine. While at Stanley Consultants, Mr. Baggaley also served as the on-call structural engineer for the Salt Lake City International Airport performing investigations into structural damages at the airport caused by wind, vehicle impact, and improper design among other causes.  In 2009 during an economic downturn, Mr. Baggaley voluntarily became a part time engineer with Stanley Consultants due to limited work opportunities and devoted more time to his real estate and construction enterprises. During this time, Mr. Baggaley increased his property investments and used his construction expertise to build multiple homes in Park City, Millcreek, and Holladay, Utah. When the economy improved Mr. Baggaley returned to full employment with Stanley Consultants. In 2017, Mr. Baggaley accepted employment at Rimkus Consulting Group as a senior engineer performing investigations into building failures and construction related building defects. During his employment at Rimkus, Mr. Baggaley investigated and wrote forensic reports for over 200 building failures in behalf of owners, insurance companies, and attorney’s. Mr. Baggaley investigated building failures throughout the intermountain area. At Rimkus, Mr. Baggaley acted as an expert witness in dozens of litigation claims for construction defect cases, property management claims, and insurance disputes. As an expert witness Mr. Baggaley gave expert testimony and wrote multiple legal reports. Mr. Baggaley’s testimony and reports were instrumental in the resolution and settlement of several legal cases.  In 2021 Mr. Baggaley left the employment of Rimkus to further pursue real estate investments and start his own forensic engineering firm specializing in construction defect investigation. As the square is the most fundamental of construction tools, Mr. Baggaley named the company Square Forensic Consulting PLLC (Square FC). The term “Square” is also synonymous with fairness, equality, and un-yeilding integrity which are the tenants of Square FC. At Square FC, Mr. Baggaley provides investigation and expert witness services in construction defect claims, insurance disputes, and property management disputes. As a design engineer, licensed contractor, investment property owner, and property manager, Mr. Baggaley has an ability to assess construction defects and evaluate insurance claims from a unique perspective. At Square FC, Mr. Baggaley services the States of Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana.
